You don’t have to spend the bug bucks to feel like a high-roller in Las Vegas. Those casinos lining the strip are in competition to get you through their door. What better way than to offer free attractions? Read over these freebies and save your money while visiting Vegas.
If you are into wild entertainment, visit the Lion Habitat at MGM Grand. A 5,000 square foot glass enclosed habitat makes viewing the lions easy as they sleep, play, lounge, and interact with their handlers. The habitat can be found inside the main casino from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily.
The Mirage has an indoor rainforest compete with a waterfall, lagoons, and exotic plants. Encased in a 100-foot dome, guests can meander through 300 orchids, 1000 bromeliads, Bird of Paradise trees and 60-foot palms. The rainforest is located just inside the front entrance and is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
If you are interested in a freebie for the family, head over to Circus Circus and see the largest permanent circus in the world. Aerialists, jugglers, trapeze artists, and clowns entertain and amaze guests young and old. Each show is about 10 minutes and be found at the big-top at the midway, just above the casino.
For something a little more tropical, check out the Hawaiian Marketplace. Polynesians sing and dance as they demonstrate Polynesian heritage. On the weekends, longer shows include fire knife dancers, Samoan singers, and Tahitian dances.
One of the more popular free shows on the Strip is the Fountains at Bellagio. Water and color dance to the beat of Broadway and classical tunes. The most serene and complex water feature ever built is designed to romance individuals as colors and blue aqua serenade the night away. Each show lasts around 5 minutes but be prepared to spend some time enjoying the show.
The Fremont Experience is a 90-foot high, four block long canopy that offers extravagant sight and sound shows. Located in the Downtown area of Las Vegas, there is usually less traffic than casinos and it is child-friendly. As a matter of fact, I’m sure your kids will love gazing at the over 2 million lights that make up this show. The spectacle begins at dust and continues through midnight each night.
Another child-friendly experience that is sure to amaze even the oldest of children is the erupting volcano at the Mirage. A man-made 54-foot volcano spews smoke and flames while lava oozes down the sides projecting heat that you can feel while standing on the sidewalk. The show happens every night from 7 p.m. to midnight.
If your wallets are feeling a bit tight, take a step outside of those Las Vegas hotels and casinos and experience great fun and entertainment at a much cheaper cost. For more information about other free Las Vegas attractions, visit Vegas Freebies.
